I chose this photo for it's unique approach of photographing the subject. Most photographers shoot objects straight on. This photographer decided to capture the unique patterns on the top of the cactus rather than just shoot head on. This gives the photo a more striking view and shows the object in a unique way. The three tops of the cactus combine to create an interesting flow in the photograph. This specific angle creates a feeling of focus on the cactus, whereas shooting from straight on would have included the background more and distracted from the main focus. I think that the settings that the photographer used helps to draw the viewer into the photo. The focus is very sharp on the tops of the cactus and the background fades out. I believe this photo is so successful because of the unique choice of angle and the intimate capture of the objects detail.
